The great thing about Las Vegas in the summer is that you can have a lot of fun without ever having to go out in the heat. Even with children you can spend a majority of your day inside doing activities that they like to do either as a family or by themselves. For example, if you want to do something together, why not check out Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, the MGM Lion Habit, or the indoor shopping at the Forum Shops or the Bellagio. If you are looking to spend a little time apart, the older kids can have a great time at Gameworks or Circus Circus’ “Adventuredome”. And then, why not reconnect at night for “The Lion King” or the “Tournament of Kings” show.

Of course, you can do outdoor activities, just plan to do them earlier in the day if it looks like it’s going to be a hot day. A great place to go as a family is the “Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat” at the Mirage, where you can see dolphins and tigers up close. In addition, if you just feel like walking the strip, you can do that as well before the sun gets hot.

One thing for sure about Las Vegas is that it is a place that is beyond larger than life. However, when most people think of Vegas, they tend to think of nothing but strip joints, casinos, showgirls and a lot of spectacular hotels that are well dressed in flashing lights and dancing waters. The only problem with this notion is that everything that was just laid out is only tied down to the atmosphere that is produced by the Las Vegas Strip. It is beyond imperative to understand that the “Strip” is only one side of Las Vegas. This awesome Las Vegas site,www.vegas-vacation.org/las-vegas-facts/top-5-vegas-myths.html will touch on many other myths.

Another major myth about Vegas is that prostitution is legal. This is heavily influenced by the many features of nude showgirls, and the ability to walk in any casino and find a bunch of gorgeous women in seductive clothes. Nevertheless this is nothing but the chosen image Las Vegas has chosen to promote. Prostitution is very much so illegal and people do get arrested for any solicitation in the vibrant Las Vegas. In addition to that, the famous quickie wedding chapels are a major part of Vegas image. There is no better or faster way to show your significant other that they are the one.

People have seen it movies, heard about it songs, and seen pictures of it on brochures, but still are wondering why they should fall in love with Las Vegas. There are hundreds of reasons why a person should fall in love with this amazing city, but naming them would take forever, so it is best to just list the top ten. The ten reasons why a person should fall in love with Las Vegas are: History, Gambling, Free Drinks, great weather, strip clubs, spa treatment, great musicians, Broadway plays, kids’ attractions, and the ability to play golf at night.Las vegas is a city full of culture and history and a person that visits there has the potential to learn a-lot. If a person for whatever reason, has the urge to commit some sins of the flesh this city is the place to do it. There are free drinks, gambling, and strippers available in this phenomenal city.

While Las Vegas is known as a well-traveled destination both for business and pleasure, the city itself is home to 567,641 residents, for a total of 1,902,834 in the metro area. With so much going on in Vegas at all hours of the night, sometimes it’s nice to simply kick back relax. While they may live in the City of Sin, not all residents “live in sin” as some outsiders may imagine from Las Vegas’ much hyped reputation. In fact, most locals lead relatively normal lives, on par with many major city residents. For example, in high-end residential parts of the city, featuring sprawling homes fully equipped with swimming pools, manicured lawns, high definition big screens with Direct tv Las Vegas NV looks no different than the well-to-do parts of say, Los Angeles CA, Dallas TX or Miami FL. Only 7 miles away from the strip, many affluent members of the Vegas community make their home in Seven Hills, a gated community which has come to be known as “The Beverly Hills of Nevada.” Home to golf courses and country clubs, not all homeowners hit it big in the casino (or run the casinos for that matter), merely members of society who have done well for themselves and appreciate a nice place to settle down. Of course, Seven Hills is not without its big names, such as Mike Tyson and eBay founder Pierre Omidyar. While a majority of the city’s housing structures lack the refined luxury of Seven Hills, it’s not to say there aren’t plenty of pleasant places to make Las Vegas your permanent base. The Lakes and Summerlin, both planned communities developed mostly inside the Vegas city limits, offer a more traditional living atmosphere, with a wide variety of occupants including residential areas, community space, business entities and medical resources.Las Vegas is also home to proud communities of unique cultural heritage, including locales such as Koreatown and Chinatown, adding their own heritage to a city as far from homogenous as its night sky is dull. All in all, a great place to live, not just a fun place to visit.

While some high rollers find themselves comped a penthouse suite only minutes after walking through the casino doors, most Vegas bound tourists must find their own shelter with more limited resources, saving a few bucks to fund the fun. Newly minted young adults making their first pilgrimage to the desert are often in a particular bind, suffering from a woefully meager budget in a city where millionaires can be crowned and dethroned overnight. Here are a few places to say that will provide an authentic Vegas experience without setting you back too many black chips (hundreds).

Bally’s Though Bally’s doesn’t compare to its elite neighbors in terms of luxury, it provides an equally central location on the strip. Since there is no requirement to gamble or mingle strictly where you stay, players are more than welcome to test their luck across the street at Caeser’s or the Bellagio while sidestepping pricy room costs. Bally’s is actually attached to Paris, providing a slightly more upscale atmosphere, not to say Bally’s is run down by any means. From a gaming standpoint, Bally’s also offers 5 dollar table minimums on most nights, as compared to 10 at most surrounding hotels, which can help for less experienced or financially endowed gamers to prolong their experience before hitting bankrupt.

Hard Rock If being in walking distance of the biggest Vegas landmarks isn’t of particular importance, try venturing slightly off the strip to the Hard Rock Hotel. Hard Rock offers a Spring Break worthy pool scene year round, a common draw for those intent on partying 24/7. Getting a cab in Las Vegas a fairly simple task, so don’t worry about being stranded too far away from all the action.

Stratosphere Situated at the very tip of the Strip, Stratosphere at least points you in the right direction at close to an off-Strip price. Furthermore, Stratosphere offers a few attractions better suited for the young, or at least young at heart, including four exhilarating rides, the Big Shot, SkyJump Las Vegas, Insanity and X-Scream, all of which take advantage of Stratosphere’s sky-scraping tower (the 5th tallest structure in the US, tallest in Las Vegas).

Jubilee (Bally’s) Jubilee gives viewers the most authentic display of Old Vegas still playing, complete with gorgeous, fully costumed show girls and beautifully choreographed dance sequences, culminating in an exquisite mastery of visual theatre. If you’re a typical guy and perhaps precise choreography doesn’t get your blood pumping, consider that Jubilee is a topless show.

“O” by Cirque du Soleil (Bellagio) For lack of better words, “O” will blow your mind, challenging the very laws of physics, human lung capacity, and if local lawmakers have any semblance of social responsibility then perhaps even Las Vegas safety regulations as performers take to the pool in this surf and turf blend of synchronized swimming and acrobatic showmanship. A more detailed description wouldn’t do the show just, “O” is a modern marvel you will have to see to believe.

Honorable Mention:Mystere (Treasure Island) Another Cirque du Soleil performance, Mystere challenges gravity head on in the traditional way, catering more to land lovers. For a quick preview, rent Knocked Up and watch as Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd give an anti-drug infomercial on why such an outlandish performance is best enjoyed in a hallucinogen free environment.Phantom of the Opera (Venetian) If you love the Phantom, you will surely enjoy the Venetians rendition of the Broadway classic. The Lion King (Mandalay Bay) For families with little cubs in tow, The Lion King is one of the more tame entertainment options around, combining Disney’s reputation for wholesome fun with trademark Las Vegas pageantry. Though the show would most likely receive a “G” rating in theaters, inspired decoration, wardrobe and performance make for an evening adults will enjoy as well.

People watching on the Strip may be enough of a show for some Vegas visitors, but for those who truly want to be oohed and awed, there’s quite simply no place like Sin City. Vegas has firmly established itself as an often imitated, never replicated entertainment Mecca, more comparable to Disney World for adults than a viable metropolitan area. On the off chance you think you might be bored, try taking in one of the city’s world class live performance shows, of course, if you’re legitimately bored in Vegas, therapy is probably a better use of your time. These long-running Vegas classics will be sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Penn and Teller (Rio) When night falls on the desert, Las Vegas lights up like a sprawling Christmas tree. The oasis of light shining bright amid the otherwise desolate arid region gives tourists the illusion that anything is possible, if not probable. Penn and Teller have been the premiere illusionists in Vegas, since they took their magic act to the Rio in 2001. The duo performs every night except Thursday, delivering a full 90 minutes of suspense, intrigue, bewilderment and laughter.

Blue Man Group (Venetian) There is an obvious “feeling blue, cheer yourself up with a show” pun just sitting here, but sparing your intellect, this show is just flat out fun for the entire family. Brace yourself for an eardrum thumping, gut busting, all out ruckus that is more than a mere spectacle, rather thriving on audience participation and interactivity. Blue Man Group performs twice nightly at 7 and 10:30.

Beatles “Love” (Mirage) Ok, while anything is possible in Vegas, perhaps bringing the original Beatles back is too tall a task. Still, you won’t come closer this side of the great beyond to getting the band back together for one more show. Mixing classic Beatles songs with corresponding on stage acts, “Love” both celebrates the most influential music group of an era and examines the surrounding music culture of the time. Put on by Cirque du Soleil, the 60′s are explored in the most artistically tasteful way possible, with doors opening at 6 and 9 for the two nightly shows (no shows Tuesday or Wednesday).

Amid the glitz and glamour of the Las Vegas strip, gambling is still king in Sin City, with casinos ultimately driving the many tourist attractions under the famous bright lights. Spending a weekend in Vegas without trying your luck on the tables would be like sticking to beer in wine country, ordering a salad at a steakhouse or wearing a blindfold to the Playboy Mansion. Of course, to a newcomer, the casino floor can be quite intimidating, particularly the commotion arising from the money hungry hordes crammed around the craps table. Craps is perhaps the most exciting bet in the casino, full of chance, camaraderie, and, if the dice fall right, big payouts. Here’s a quick rundown of the must-knows, after that, may beginner’s luck be with you.The Pass Line bet is the initial bet before a player begins his or her roll. When you “Bet the Pass,” you wager that the roller will spin either a 7 or 11, at which point each better will be rewarded in the amount equal to their bet. Only if the dice land showing 2, 3 or 12 (collectively), will you lose your bet right away. In the event any other number come up, play continues with bets still standing, only now the objective is for the roller avoid casting a 7. In order to win, a player must roll either a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10, before turning up a 7, matching the number to the original roll. For example, if you came up with a 5 on the pass bet, you would now need to throw another 5 before “crapping out” with a 7. After the original pass bet, players can place an additional “odds bet” if they believe their number will show before a 7. Odds bets are considered by many to be the best bet in the casino, paid based on true odds (pass bets are even money), with no house edge. Odds payout payouts then depend on the number in question. There are more ways to roll a 6 than a 4, thus 4 will pay more than 6 off the same bet amount. It is perfectly legal to bet against the roller by placing a “Don’t Pass” bet, known as “betting on the dark side,” though it is considered poor form at most tables, particularly disadvantageous for new players looking to learn the game. For more advanced questions and general strategy, dealers at craps tables are more than happy to introduce more players to the game, just remember to tip. All in all, the unique lingo, speed of play and sense of community fostered at a craps table offers a gaming experience unparalleled elsewhere in the casino, a rite of passage for any Vegas vacationer.

Stuck in a hopelessly mundane city somewhere in the continental U.S.? Do you wake up after an epic evening thinking “that was fun, but it would’ve been way better if we were in Vegas”? Are you counting down the days until you lose you can once again lose your inhibitions in Sin City? You’re not alone. While spending a weekend in Vegas ranks among the most enjoyable experiences still legally permissible (assuming laws are generally abided during your stay), killing time pre-trip or between trips can be agonizing. This list of Vegas inspired blockbusters will get you in the right mindset so you can hit the ground running or maybe take you back to a time in which your life was truly lived.

Casino (1995) Robert De Niro stars in this Scorsese classic, taking audiences back to the old mafia-run Vegas, when Sin City was more of an accurate description than tactfully marketed epithet.

The Hangover (2009) After decades of serving as an international party headquarters, finally a film is bold enough to explore the debauchery that has become the city’s main draw for a generation of 20-something males. After all, not all the action in Vegas is found on the casino floor. This instant classic comedy follows a bachelor party gone horribly wrong or horribly right, depending on your perspective.

Ocean’s Eleven (1960 and/or 2001) Whether you prefer Pitt, Clooney and Company or the original Rat Pack, get lost in this elaborate casino heist scheme. Who knows, perhaps if you play your cards right you could walk away with a similar bank roll.

Diamonds Are Forever (1971) No matter how much you are willing to spend or how refined your poker skills, no one does Vegas quite like James Bond, Connery-Bond to boot.
